This can also be done without the checkerboard there, but I like the checkerboard since the text that you see changes every time I select the class again.
Posting to encourage you guys to play around with the game a bit, inspiration from a topic I saw in the BO2 Modding section which related to memory editing to remove the checks for illegal characters.
This glitch allows you to have any illegal characters that you want in your class name.
TUTORIAL FOR IHC CLASS TOOL METHOD
Edit the class name field how you choose, the color and button codes are below.
Color codes:
^1 - Red
^2 - Green
^3 - Light Yellow
^4 - Blue
^5 - Cyan
^6 - Pink
^7 - Yellow
^8 - Grey
^9 - Golden Brown
^0 - Black
Button codes, checkerboard, and freeze:
[{+frag}] = (RB button)
[{+smoke}] = (LB button)
[{+switchseat}] = (A button)KEY_DR(Y button)
[{+reload}] = (X button)
[{+gostand}] = (A button)
[{+movestick}] = (LS button)
[{+activate}] = (X button)
^B = Checkboard with random text
^I = Xbox freeze
Note: You can have a maximum of 16 characters using iHc Class Tool since Elite only allows 16 characters.

wait, are the class names stored in the gpd? or do you mean that you remove a line of code and in-game you can now add anything?

Using 5th world wizard powers.
You can also put as many characters in the custom class name as you want, although the game only shows to 16.

I would recommend you guys be careful when you're using this if/when you figure it out. If you use some invalid characters it will crash your game causing a console freeze every time you open your classes in game or in lobby.

I was trying to fit as many characters as I could into my class name by creating an UNBOUND_KEY text which cause a crash after 5 UNBOWNED_KEYs.
I've just noticed that a similar method can be done via elite which allows you to put any illegal characters into your clan name, BO2 Classes, MW3 Classes and any other place. Any time anybody in my clan goes to their Elite Clan tab in-game they freeze their xbox. :3
